CALLOUT TO ARTISTS
Lockdown traumatised us.
A lot of art was made about it.
"Back to normal" damaged us more.
It was a dark period of population-level denial, dissociation & mass disabling.
COVID was commonly referred to in the past tense, while we all kept getting sicker and sicker.
We are now referring to this period in past tense, because it must end and is ending.
"Back to normal" is over.
We need art to help us process this.
CCQN (Covid Conscious Queers Naarm) would like your art on how the "back to normal" period affected you, and how it feels to come out of it.
Any medium, any perspective, any emotion you like.
We need your help to come to terms with what's happened and the fact that life will never be the same again.
SONGS, POEMS, ESSAYS, VIDEOS, PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS, ARTICLES, PHOTOS, SCULPTURES, COLLAGES...
get them in to covidconsciousqueersnaarm@gmail.com
We'll edit and compile them and share some on this account with plans for an online & print zine by the end of the year.
There is a moment of change in the world. Masks are coming back. People are waking up. And we can all help this happen.
COVID is here to stay.
But so are we.
- CCQN
P.S.
If deadlines are helpful to you, let's say get them in by the end of September.
You don't have to be living in any particular part of the world to submit.
Please note we're poor and unfortunately are not in a position to pay for submissions.
Email your submissions to covidconsciousqueersnaarm at gmail dot com, or DM this account (you have to be following us for your DMs to show up).
