Covid-19 cases in Italy drop 17 percent - Published Dec 1, 2024Rome, Dec 1 (Prensa Latina) From November 21 to 27, Italy registered 2,122 cases of Covid-19, a 17.1 percent decrease compared to the 2,561 reported the previous week, an official report said today. The Higher Institute of Health (ISS) also indicated in its latest report that the number of deaths also decreased significantly over that period, with 43 deaths, 23.0 percent less than the 61 fatalities registered from November 14 to 20. A total 58,468 tests conducted during this period, to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus, with a positivity rate of 3.6 percentage points, lower than the 4.2 percent found in the previous seven days. A total of 216,753 people are currently positive for Covid-19, of which 215,338 are isolated at home and 1,391 remain hospitalized in general wards of hospitals, while 58 are hospitalized in intensive care, the ISS note points out. From January 30, 2020 to November 27 last, a total of 26,953,493 infections with the SARS-CoV-2 virus were detected in this country of nearly 59 million inhabitants, and 26,538,295 infected cases recovered, while 198,445 lost their lives to the disease, the source adds.
