Italy reports 2,561 infections, 61 deaths due to Covid 19 - Published Nov 23, 2024Rome, Nov 23 (Prensa Latina) From November 14 to 20, two thousand 561 cases of Covid-19 were registered in Italy, for a decrease of 2.7 percent in relation to the two thousand 631 of the previous week, a report indicates today. The latest report from the country’s Higher Institute of Health (ISS), deaths in those seven days totaled 61, which represents a significant reduction compared to the 86 deaths registered from November 7 through 13. However, the positivity rate increased, although slightly, reaching 4.2 percentage points, higher than the 4.0 percent seen in the previous week. In Italy, 217,124 people are currently positive for the disease, of whom 215,671 are isolated at home and 1,391 were admitted to general hospitals, while 62 are in intensive care, the ISS report points out. Since January 30, 2020, date of the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in this European nation, with a population of almost 59 million inhabitants, a total of 26,951,371 infections with the SARS-CoV-2 virus have been detected so far, with 26,535,849 infected persons who were cured and 198,398 who died due to this disease.
