„Sledovanie vírusovej nálože v odpadových vodách poukazuje na zvýšenie v Bratislavskom, Trenčianskom, Žilinskom, Nitrianskom, Prešovskom a Košickom kraji,“ uvádza úrad verejného zdravotníctva.
Medzi osoby, ktorým je vysoko odporúčané očkovanie proti chrípke, patria zdravotnícki pracovníci, ľudia vo veku nad 59 rokov, pacienti s chronickými ochoreniami (srdcovo-cievne, pľúcne, metabolické) a osoby s oslabenou imunitou,“ uvádza úrad verejného zdravotníctva.

Pharmacies are already feeling the sudden onset of COVID. Vaccination with new vaccines will start soon
Antigen tests have been of great interest since the beginning of summer. Pharmacies assure that they are ready for the season and do not expect outages. Hygienists confirm that the number of cases of COVID is increasing in almost the entire territory of Slovakia.
Hygienists inform people to prepare for the onset of the covid wave in the coming days and weeks. They state that the emergence and spread of mutations is a common phenomenon, and this fall will be no different.
The fact that COVID is also on the rise in Slovakia is confirmed by wastewater investigations.
"Monitoring of the viral load in wastewater shows an increase in the Bratislava, Trenčín, Žilina, Nitra, Prešov and Košice regions," the public health office reports.
At the same time, hygienists warn that the actual number of infected people is much higher and morbidity will increase.
Another proof that cases are increasing rapidly is the high demand for antigen tests.
"We can confirm that in recent weeks we have been registering an increased sales of antigen tests for COVID in Dr.Max pharmacies. For the last month of August, we recorded a more than double additional increase in sales compared to the average of the previous six months. The first days of September confirm this trend, compared to August, we recorded a 246 percent increase in sales," explained the pharmacy's internal and external communication manager Kvetoslava Kirchnerová.
He assures patients that pharmacies have sufficient supplies of tests for the entire flu and covid season.
The same trend is confirmed by the pharmacy Pilulka.sk. Increased interest in the tests was detected already in July. Compared to the same month last year, they saw an increase of more than 570 percent.
"Over the last two summer months, July and August, the increase in the number of units sold was a total of 182 percent compared to last year," spokeswoman Marta Kováčová told TVNOVINY.sk.
Also based on these data, they deduce that the number of people infected with COVID or other respiratory diseases is rising sharply. On the contrary, there is no interest in masks or respirators.
New vaccines have already arrived in Slovakia
How exactly the season will develop is difficult to predict, because the curve of other respiratory diseases is also growing along with COVID. Many patients do not get tested and it is not so clear whether they have the flu or the coronavirus.
In general, flu season runs from October to April with a peak during the winter. Subvariants of omicron, which are also called FLiRT, are currently prevalent.
It is still true that the best prevention is vaccination . The latest vaccines on the market are already adapted to current variants. These are Comirnaty JN.1 vaccines.
The Ministry of Health confirmed for TVNOVINY.sk that the first dose of vaccines has already been delivered to Slovakia. Vaccinations should start over the next few weeks.
Vaccines for children will arrive in the first week of October, and vaccinations will begin during October. Vaccination against COVID is suitable for children from six months of age.
Hygienists also recommend vaccination against the flu. "Vaccination is the most suitable protection against the flu, its severe course and adverse consequences of the disease. Persons for whom influenza vaccination is highly recommended include healthcare workers, people over the age of 59, patients with chronic diseases (cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic) and persons with weakened immunity," the public health office states.
Vaccination against the flu is also suitable during pregnancy and is a recommended form of flu prevention in children as well (especially between the ages of 6 months and three years).
Hygienists recommend getting vaccinated against the flu between October and the end of November.
