Hospitals masking again as COVID-19 infections increase - Published Sept 4, 2024Some hospitals in northern New York are renewing mask requirements following an increase in COVID-19 infections. Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone and Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh are requiring all employees to start wearing a mask again. The hospitals are also asking patients and visitors to voluntarily mask. Patients with COVID-like symptoms must wear a mask, which is standard practice. The move comes as coronavirus infection rates increase in the area and both hospitals report a rise in employee infections. Free masks are available at the entrances of both hospitals. The newest 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccines, from Moderna, Pfzier, and Novavax, are now available in pharmacies in New York.
