Health officials on alert as measles case emerges in southeast Idaho - Published Aug 16, 2024Boise, ID (CBS2) — A child has been diagnosed with measles in southeast Idaho according to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. According to The Department, the child was traveling internationally and had not been vaccinated against the disease, and though the child was seen by medical providers they were not hospitalized. The child traveled through several states while infectious, between Aug. 7 and Aug. 16, including Wyoming and southeastern Idaho. Still, because the child's travel history is incomplete there may be people who were exposed that Southeastern Idaho Public Health has not identified yet. If you believe you have been around someone who had measles recently, call your healthcare provider and watch for any of these symptoms, fever, runny nose, cough, and rash for 21 days after the exposure. Though measles is commonly a childhood disease, adults who have not been vaccinated or had the disease can still get it.
