È la conclusione a cui giunge un'analisi condotta dall'epidemiologo Cesare Cislaghi, dalla matematica Maria Teresa Giraudo e dal data scientist Manuele Falcone pubblicata sul portale di 'Epidemiologia e Prevenzione', la rivista dell'Associazione Italiana di Epidemiologia.
Per i ricercatori, i dati diffusi negli ultimi mesi mostrano una evidente incongruenza: quella tra il numero di posti letto in ospedale occupati da pazienti con Covid e il numero complessivo di casi registrati". Prendendo come esempio il periodo in cui era attivo il Green pass, che consentiva una stima affidabile dei nuovi contagi, il rapporto tra nuovi casi giornalieri e posti letto occupati era di oltre di 6 a 1", dice Cislaghi. Oggi questo rapporto è sceso drasticamente: la scorsa settimana si attestava a un valore di 1,4 a 1. A fronte di 1.829 posti letto occupati in area medica, sono stati registrati infatti poco meno di 2.500 contagi al giorno (17.006 su base settimanale).
"Se le giornate di ricovero aumentano rispetto ai casi, cosa può essere successo? Sembra potersi escludere un aggravamento della malattia", scrivono i ricercatori, secondo i quali "non resta allora che l'ipotesi di minori diagnosi e/o minori notifiche dei nuovi contagi che non danno luogo a ricovero".
Secondo l'analisi, applicando il rapporto tra ricoveri e nuovi casi registrato in epoca Green pass, i 17.006 casi della scorsa settimana diventerebbero 74.487. Più di 3 casi su 4, quindi, sfuggirebbero alle stime ufficiali. "Si tratta tuttavia di una stima di massima", avverte Cislaghi. "Più che il numero in sé, è però importante avere una percezione dell'ampiezza del problema. L'anno scorso si è iniziati così i casi e poi in autunno e in inverno i casi sono aumentati. È importante darci da fare per contenere la circolazione del virus", conclude.
